WORK SCOPE: The U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded U.S. Power Consult a contract for a Definitional Mission to evaluate proposed projects in Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo involving conventional power generation, combined-heat-and-power cycle (CHP), regional transmission concepts, bio-diesel fuels, biomass utilization, LNG applications, hydro power projects, environmental remediation, and coal mining projects.

SERVICES PROVIDED: USPC provided various assessments in the following areas: system analysis, potential exports of U.S. equipment and services that could be utilized in project implementation, and priority of the proposed projects relative to the needs of the host country; potential risks of the proposed projects; financeability of the projects; and likely sources of financing. USPC met with key government officials, resident representatives of development agencies and multilateral bank institutions, international consultants, and selected private sector project sponsors, to obtain their input as basis for the reviews of the proposed projects.

Twenty-four (24) projects presented by various private and state organizations were reviewed by USPC. The range of projects reviewed included: Flue Gas Desulphurization at TPP Nikola Tesla A and B Power Plants; New Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) Plant; 5 MW Biomass CHP Plant; 10-20 MW Municipality Kraljevo CHP Plant; Becej Agricultural Center Biogas CHP Plant; Replacement of PCB Filled Capacitors and their Permanent Storage; Djerdap Hydro Pumped Storage Facility; Belgrade LNG Project; 100-150 MW Combined Cycle CHP Plant; BIO-DIESEL and BIO Heating Oil Production Improvements; 800 MW Lignite-Fired Power Plant; Study for use of Coppice and Waste Wood for Heating in Montenegro; Kosovo Cleanup and Land Reclamation Project (CLRP); Albania – Kosovo (Kashar-Kosova B) Interconnection Project; Rehabilitation of Kosovo A Power Plant; Kosovo C - New Greenfield Coal Power Plant.
