Review of Potential Projects in the Energy Sector of Romania

LOCATION: Constanta, Motru & Bucarest, Romania
CLIENT: USTDA (with Ministry of Economy & Finance, Motru Municipality and Comvex & Alro companies locally)

WORK SCOPE: USPC provided expert analysis and traveled to some of the field sites to evaluate nine energy sector projects in Romania. Both privately developed and government proposed projects were evaluated for potential funding. USPC also reviewed the existing energy sector laws and their influence on the proposed projects.

SERVICES PROVIDED: Pre-feasibility assessments were conducted of power generation using locally produced lignite and imported high grade coal. Two projects were recommended for feasibility study funding: the Constanta Port 800-1600 MW supercritical coal fired power plant and the Motru 200-400 MW lignite fired power plant.
